In 1948, Gordon Kingston who was an armourer during the 2nd World War, together with his brother Jim Kingston started the business of Kingston Brothers - Gunsmiths and Locksmiths at 53 Mollison Street, West End Queensland, where it functioned for some 52 years. That is now home of the iconic Gunshop café.
In 1989 George Ramsay purchased the Kingston Brothers business. Keith Mathison is also a long standing and highly regarded Gunsmith employee after serving his Gunsmith apprenticeship with Kingston Brothers.
In 1996 Kingston Brothers Locksmiths & Gunsmiths was Re-Branded to Southbank Locksmiths and Security Service as the new identity for the growing Locksmith section of the business.
In 1999 the business moved to a more suitable location at 75 Vulture Street West End.
